Meaning Great Mother in Turkish, this Islamic Pilgrim site lies adjacent Salt Lake and is surrounded by date palms, cypresses and olive trees. Legend has it that the site was the place where, in 674, Umm Haram (the aunt of the Prophet Mohammed) died and was buried after falling from a mule. The tomb and mosque have become important places of worship for Muslims. The interior is a working mosque, which was built over the tomb and sarcophagus of Hala Sultan.
