Panagia Angeloktisti Church

There is a causeway between the main Larnaca Salt Lake and smaller pools which leads to the village of Kiti with this famous church - the Panagia Angeloktisti (meaning ‘built by the angels). The churhc’s highlights include a wonderful 6th Century mosaic of the Virgin Mary standing on a jewelled pedestal holding the baby Jesus. The mosics which have survuved from the original building were only desciverd in 1952. The church is till used as a place of worship today.
